Don’t settle for good enough

How many times were you treated poorly by your bank? By your energy provider? By a restaurant?

I’ve had my fair share of such disappointments. Mind you, I’m not talking about the occasional hiccup in service. That would be understandable. We’re all human, after all, and prone to error. No. I’m talking about systematic failures.

When escalating your problem doesn’t work. When every employee seems to share the same mindset. When company policy supports the off-putting behaviour.

In those cases, I’ve learned to simply get up and go. Don’t be afraid of change. If the next option turns out to be as bad (or worse!) – keep moving. Don’t settle for good enough. Eventually, you will land on a better option. They can’t all be terrible!

Demand better. Reward excellence by remaining. Punish poor behaviour by leaving. This is the only way for all of us to get better service.

Get out of your comfort zone. You may end up someplace more comfortable.
